Pieter Schaareman
Pieter Schaareman is Product Manager for Codes & Standards at Liftinstituut, where he plays a key role in the development and application of international elevator standards. With over 30 years of experience in the lift industry, he started his career in 1991 at TNO Product Centre before joining Liftinstituut in 1992 as a lift inspector. Over the years, he has held several senior positions, including Unit Manager for the Lifts Directive and Product Specialist in certification, building extensive expertise in conformity assessment and regulatory frameworks.
Pieter has been actively involved in European and international standardization bodies for many years. He contributes to multiple CEN TC10 and ISO TC178 working groups, where he supports the development of key safety standards for the elevator industry. His long-standing participation in these committees reflects his strong commitment to harmonisation, safety, and innovation in vertical transportation.
He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Industrial Automation from Hogeschool Rotterdam and complements his technical background with certifications in electronics and safety standards. Pieter is widely recognised within the sector for his deep technical knowledge and practical experience.
