A key event for the elevator industry
Paul Burns
Paul Burns is Head of Vertical Transportation Design at D2E International VT Consultants Ltd in the UK, having joined in 2013 after working for a global lift and escalator manufacturer for the previous 8 years. Prior to joining the VT industry Paul was a steelmaker, working for Corus (later Tata Steel) in south Wales for 4 years. At D2E Paul leads a team of VT designers specialising in developing vertical transportation strategies, modernisation and repurposing as well as simulating new and investigating existing vertical traffic patterns.
Paul holds a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Materials Engineering and an Engineer Doctorate in Clean Steel Technology, both from Swansea University. Paul is a Chartered Engineer and Member of CIBSE. Paul contributes to the British Council for Offices publications and has published with the Council on Vertical Urbanism (formerly CTBUH) and the Lift and Escalator Symposium.
Paul’s notable projects include the Phase 2, 3a and 3b refurbishment of Battersea Power Station, 40 Leadenhall Street 70 St Mary Axe in the UK, and Qiddiya’s Motorsport Hotel, Riyadh.
