A key event for the elevator industry
Nick Mellor
Nick Mellor has worked for the UK Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) since 2012 and has been in the lift industry since 1992. He worked as LEIA Technical Director from 2012 until January 2023 and as LEIA Managing Director from 2017 until January 2026. He is currently Principal Industry Adviser at LEIA focussed on building safety and codes and standards projects at BSI.
Nick sits on BSI’s MHE/4 lifts, hoist and escalator committee where he has been involved in the development of various British Standards and also on a number of BSI fire safety committees. He is a BSI delegate to various European (CEN) working groups including both the European (CEN) and International (ISO) working groups looking at firefighters lifts and lifts for evacuation.
Nick holds a BSc(Eng) from Imperial College, London, an MBA from Brunel University/ Henley Management College and an MSc in lift engineering from the University of Northampton where he was in the first cohort to graduate in 2002. He has been an Associate Lecturer on the MSc and visiting fellow at the University of Northampton.
