A key event for the elevator industry

Andrés Táboas
Andrés Táboas was born in A Coruña and currently lives in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid. He is married and has one son.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and an Executive MBA from ESIC. He is Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of FEEDA and a member of its Legislation and Standards Committee. He also serves as Chair of UNE Technical Committee CTN 321 and Vice-Chair of EIGEL, the Basque Lift Industry Association. In addition, he contributes as an expert to standards development within the CEN/TC 10 WG1 and ISO/TC 178 WG6 working groups.
He has more than 30 years of experience in the lift industry, having worked at OTIS since 1995 in a variety of positions, most of them within the Quality function. In 2010, he was appointed Corporate Director of Quality, Codes and Standards, and Customer Experience, leading the deployment of quality strategies and promoting the ACE continuous improvement programme across the SEMA region (Southern Europe and the Middle East).
During this period, he coordinated the accreditation of the quality management system, ensuring the annual renewal of ISO 9001 certification, while promoting numerous initiatives aimed at improving service quality, customer perception and customer experience. He is a certified trainer and has delivered courses on continuous improvement and Kaizen events, as well as conducting internal quality audits and process improvement assessments in both manufacturing and management environments.
As an educator and speaker, he has delivered lectures on vertical transportation at Schools of Architecture in Madrid, Valladolid, San Sebastián and Barcelona, as well as at Industrial Engineering schools in Madrid and Badajoz. He has contributed to postgraduate and master’s programmes and has regularly participated as a speaker at conferences, technical seminars and industry events organised by FEEDA and other sector associations.
Since December 2021, he has led the Codes and Standards Department at OTIS Spain and collaborates with OTIS regional codes representatives across the IBAME region (Iberia, Africa and the Middle East).
